Remember when you were 5 years old? When a cardboard box was a fort? When our beds became lifeboats, providing our only protection from the shark-infested waters of our bedroom? When we could envision our achievements in vivid detail – years before their fulfillment? Remember when we had a virtually unlimited capacity to dream? What happened?

Life happened.

As we grew up, “reality” set in. We couldn’t be an astronaut, and a firefighter, and a doctor, and own our own ice cream store. We left our childish fantasies behind in our pursuit of what we believed would make us happy.

King Solomon once wrote, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” When we suppress our capacity to dream, our lives become unfocused. An unseen target cannot be hit. Sadly, many people aim at nothing in life and hit it with an amazing degree of accuracy.

Are the dreams gone? Can they be rekindled? The FreedomRocks vision statement is: To combine leading-edge technology with the power of a dream to create the most compelling opportunity in the financial world.

Daryl Elliott, a leader in our organization, once told me, “Our goal should be progress, not perfection.” I like that. We’re better now than we’ve ever been, and the best is yet to come.
